DESCRIPTION
Day 1 - Arrive in Umbria. The tour begins at the airport where you are flying to or at a pick-up point of your choice. You will be greeted by a member of JustUmbria team and driven to the beautiful accommodation we have reserved in Montefalco. A welcome aperitif and dinner will be held for you and your fellow travellers. The first and the last day of the tour will be tailored according to your flight schedules.

Day 2 - Sagrantino Wine Trail. The day will start with a visit of Montefalco, also known as "The Balcony of Umbria”. A guided tour will lead you through the medieval city walls to the rich history, art and traditions of one the most beautiful towns in Italy. We will then move on to the countryside to visit two excellent organic wine producers we have selected for you. We will take a walk through the vineyards and the old cellars where wines age, tasting different varieties of Sagrantino wine and paring them on the table with a ligh Umbrian light lunch. In the afternoon we will head towards Bevagna, where a tour will show us this enchanting village and all of its well preserved Roman and Medieval origins. Dinner is on your own or with your fellow travellers.

Day 3 - Assisi. Today we will follow Saint Francis footsteps heading towards Assisi, a town which needs no introduction. A guided tour (optional) will lead you through the historic centre, the Basilica of St. Francis and many other Franciscan sites. Assisi is one of Italy’s top destinations richly endowed with art, spirituality and history, declared part of the World Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO. We will have a typical lunch at a local restaurant before visiting San Damiano and the Eremo delle Carceri in the afternoon.

Day 4 - Wine & Olive oil tastings and Spello. Today we will spend the morning in the countryside visiting a very old and traditional family owned olive oil mill. We will visit the groves and learn about the production of olives and their oil, have a tasting with wine and chat with the family. The second stop will be at an organic wine producer where wine tasting will be combined with a light lunch. We will then spend the afternoon in the nearby village of Spello. Nestled on the southern flank of Mount Subasio, this quaint old villages is one the most beautiful in Italy due to its significant environmental and artistic heritage.

Day 5 - Perugia. The whole day will be spent in the capital of Umbria, Perugia. A guided tour (optional) will lead you through the cobblestone alleys visiting the city centre, the historic underground part of the city, and all the major attractions. There will be time for shopping.

Day 6 - Truffle Hunting & Spoleto. Today we will have a little earlier start to meet with the truffle hunter, which will bring us into the woods to seek out the precious Umbrian “tartufo” lead by his dog. We will then enjoy the truffles at lunch, with fresh pasta and other local delicacies. The rest of the day will be spent in the nearby Spoleto. A guided tour will show us one of the most picturesque and historically significant hill towns in Italy.

Day 7 - Todi & Orvieto. Today we start our itinerary from Todi, a town perched atop a hill, overlooking the Tiber Valley. Its threefold city walls, enclose unexpected treasurers. We will then immerse ourselves in nature for a lunch in a beautiful winery, where we will be introduced to the Orvieto Classico DOC in a relaxing wine tasting enjoying an amazing view on the town of Orvieto, where we will spend the afternoon. This small jewel, built around three thousand years ago by the Etruscans on a dramatic tufo cliffs, is famous for its stunning Duomo, simply one of the most beautiful Italian churches.

Day 8 - Farewell. Today will be the farewell day. We will drive you to the airport (or the drop-off point agreed). The first and the last day of the tour will be tailored according to your flight schedules.
