DESCRIPTION

 

Day 1 - Arrive in Umbria. The tour begins at the airport where you are flying to or at a pick-up point your choice. You will be met by a member of JustUmbria team and driven to the breathtaking Abbey we have reserved for your first 2 nights in Valnerina. A welcome aperitif and dinner will be held for you and your fellow travellers. The first and the last day of the tour will be tailored according to your flight schedules.

​Day 2 - Marmore Falls & Piediluco Lake. Today we will start from Marmore Falls, the impressive and magnificent waterfall created by the Romans. You can walk through the numerous paths and caves in the surrounding park climbing up to the top or vice-versa. This amazing place is a perfect combination of nature and history which inspired many artists and poets, including Lord Byron. For lunch time we will move to the nearby PIediluco Lake, where we will also spend the afternoon. You will choose if being active or relaxing in this magical peaceful place while being totally immersed in the green heart of Italy. We will head back to the Abbey before dinner.

Day 3 - Valnerina. We will enjoy the whole Nera river valley visiting the numerous uncontaminated villages, abbeys and castles perched on the slopes of the green surrounding hills; Arrone, Scheggino, Sant'Anatolia di Narco, Vallo di Nera, Borgo di Ponte, Cerreto di Spoleto, Abbazia di Sant'Eutizio, Castelsantangelo Sul Nera and Preci just to name a few. By the end of the day we will reach the beautiful accommodation we have reserved in Norcia, where we will spend the next 2 days. For dinner, which will be at one of our favourite restaurants, you will be introduced to the many delicacies produced in this area.

Day 4 - Norcia. A guided tour (optional) will lead us through the treasures of this ancient town, birthplace of St. Benedict. Famous all around the world for its typical cuisine and important works of art, this fascinating place is characterized by incredible cultural beauties. In the afternoon: truffle hunting experience! A walk in nature with a local hunter and his trained dog to seek the prized black truffle of Norcia, that you will then enjoy on the table combined with the local delicacy.

Day 5 - Sibillini Park. The next day we will visit the Castelluccio Plateau, a MUST SEE for anyone traveling through the south of Umbria. Castelluccio is a small hilltop town located in the middle of a vast, flower filled high plain in Monti Sibillini. Surrounded by rolling hills and mountains with a highest peak of 2500 metres. Whether you are passionate about walking, cycling, photography, drawing or painting, this is the perfect place to spend a memorable day. If you feel particularly active you can enjoy one of the numerous organised hiking treks in the kingdom of the mythic Sibilla. We will be back to Norcia for the last dinner of the tour.

Day 6 - Farewell. Today will be the farewell day. We will drive you to the airport (or any drop-off point you will indicate). The first and the last day of the tour will be tailored according to your flight schedules.
