DESCRIPTION

 

Day 1 - Arrive in Umbria. The tour will start at the airport where you are flying to or at the pick-up point agreed. You will be met by a member of JustUmbria team and driven to the beautiful accommodation we have reserved for you in Montefalco, which will be your home for your Holiday in our Umbria. Also known as "The Balcony of Umbria”, rich in history, art and traditions, Montefalco is one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. A welcome aperitif and dinner will be held for you and your fellow travellers. The first and the last day of the tour will be tailored according to your flight schedules.

Day 2 - Bevagna and Spello. The day will start with a visit of Bevagna, famous for its medieval workshops, where a tour will show you this enchanting village and all its well preserved Roman and Medieval origins. For lunch time we will move to the countryside to get the chance to visit our selected organic wine and olive oil producers. It’s a unique occasion to take a walk through the vineyards and the old cellars, tasting different varieties of Sagrantino wine and fresh olive oil combined with local delicacies for a light and tasteful lunch. The rest of the day will be spent in Spello, also part of the elite of "The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy" due to its significant cultural and environmental heritage.

​Day 3 - Perugia. The day will be spent in the capital of Umbria, Perugia. A guided tour (optional) will lead us through the cobblestone alleys visiting the city centre, the historic underground part of the city, and all the major attractions.

Day 4 - Assisi. Today we will follow Saint Francis footsteps heading towards Assisi, a town which needs no introduction. The historic centre, the Basilica of St. Francis and many other Franciscan sites make Assisi one of Italy’s top destinations, richly endowed with art, spirituality, history and declared part of the World Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO. We will have a typical lunch at a local restaurant before visiting San Damiano and the Eremo delle Carceri in the afternoon.

Day 5 - Gubbio. Gubbio is one of the most ancient towns in Umbria, remaining marvellously well-preserved over the centuries, with many monuments that bare witness to its glorious past. Architecturally it represents the zenith of medieval civilization of the 13th and 14th centuries.

Day 6 - Todi & Orvieto. Today we start our itinerary from Todi, a town perched atop a hill, overlooking the Tiber Valley. Its threefold city walls, enclose the unexpected treasures of this small, friendly hill town with its fabulous view over the surrounding green hills. A panoramic back-road along the calm Lago di Bolsena will then lead us to Orvieto, where we will have lunch and spend the rest of the day. This small jewel, built around three thousand years ago by the Etruscans on a dramatic tuffo cliffs, is worldwide famous for its stunning Duomo, simply one of the most beautiful Italian churches.

Day 7 - Truffle Hunting and Spoleto. Today we will meet with the truffle hunter, which will bring us into the woods for a unique hiking experience in nature seeking out the precious Umbrian “tartufo” lead by the trained dog! We will then enjoy the truffles at the table, with fresh pasta and other homemade delicacies. The rest of the day will be spent in the nearby Spoleto. A guided tour will show us one of the most picturesque and historically significant hill towns in central Italy, known all over the world for its renowned fine arts Festival dei Due Mondi. The last dinner of tour will be at one of our selected restaurant.

Day 8 - Farewell. Today will be the farewell day. We will drive you to the airport (or the drop-off point agreed). The first and the last day of the tour will be tailored according to your flight schedules.
