DESCRIPTION

 

Day 1 - Arrive in Rome. The tour will start at the airport where you're flying to or at the pick-up point agreed. You will be met by a member of JustUmbria team and driven to the beautiful accommodation we have reserved for you in the centre of Rome.

Day 2 - Rome. A guided tour will lead you through the labyrinth of the Eternal City. Piazza Navona and Bernini's Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, Campo dei Fiori and its morning veggies and Italian delicacies market, Caravaggio’s frescoes at San Luigi dei Francesi, the two thousand year old Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain etc. the list just doesn't stop because Rome is Just Rome.

​Day 3 - Vatican City. Today is the day of the city-state within Rome. Our expert guide will help you skip the line of one of the most visited places on earth, and will reveal to you the many secrets hidden behind Vatican City history and the astonishing number of pieces of art hosted in this extraordinary Museum. Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine Chapel are of course the highlight of the visit. Don't miss the chance to climb to the top of St Peter’s Basilica to enjoy a view you will never forget.

Day 4 - Orvieto & Todi. Today, escorted by your private tour leader, you will leave Rome behind to head towards the Green Heart of Italy! First stop Orvieto. This small jewel, built around three thousand years ago by the Etruscans on a dramatic tuffo cliffs, is famous for its stunning Duomo, simply one of the most beautiful Italian churches. We will then follow a panoramic back-road along the calm Lago di Bolsena for our second stop in Todi, a beautiful small town perched atop a hill, overlooking the Tiber Valley. We will then head towards the your beautiful accommodation in Montefalco. A dinner in one of our favourite restaurants will be held for you as a welcome in our Umbria.

​Day 5 - Perugia & Bevagna. The day will be spent in the capital of Umbria, Perugia. A guided tour (optional) will lead us through the cobblestone alleys visiting the city centre, the historic underground part of the city, and all the major attractions. On the way back to Montefalco we will stop in the nearby Bevagna, famous for its medieval workshops , where a tour will show us this enchanting village and all its well preserved Roman and Medieval origins.

Day 6 - Assisi & Spello. Today we will follow Saint Francis footsteps heading towards Assisi, a town which needs no introduction. A guided tour (optional) will lead us through its historic centre, the Basilica of St. Francis and many other Franciscan sites of one of the top Italian destinations most richly endowed with art, spirituality, history and declared part of the World Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO. We will visit San Damiano and the Eremo delle Carceri. The day will end with a visit to Spello, a quaint old hamlet, also one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy" due to its significant environmental, cultural and artistic heritage.

Day 7 - Truffle Hunting & Spoleto. Today we will have a little earlier start to meet with the truffle hunter, which will bring us into the woods to seek out the precious Umbrian “tartufo” lead by his dog.  We will then enjoy the truffles at lunch, with fresh pasta and other local delicacies. The rest of the day will be spent in the nearby Spoleto. A guided tour will show us one of the most picturesque and historically significant hill towns in Italy.

Day 8 - Siena & San Gimignano. The journey to Florence will be just amazing. We will first visit Siena, where you can join our local guide (optional) for a stroll around Piazza del Campo – one of the finest main squares in Italy – the 14th-century Town Hall and the Duomo’s unforgettable frescoes. San Gimignano, the medieval walled town with its 14 towers will be the last stop before heading to Florence.

Day 9 & 10 - Florence. The beautiful accommodation we have reserved for you in the centre of the city is the strategic starting point for your excursions through the surprisingly interesting Florence. A guided tour will introduce to the main astonishing attractions like the Basilica, Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, The prominent Uffizi Museum just to name a few. Don't miss out on the morning Market of San Lorenzo and the unforgettable sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo. The last dinner of the tour will be at one of our favourite restaurants.

Day 11 - Farewell. Today will be the farewell day. We will drive you to the airport (or any drop-off point you will indicate). The last day of the tour will be tailored according to your flight schedules.
